Abstract

|
A case of periodic psychosis in a lady 28 yrs old, Simulating manic excitement. Occurring round about the menstrual periods with complete remission in between is reported. Similar cases of periodical psychotic reactions reported in literature are referred to ´the name "Gross change in behavior round about menstrual periods" is offered to describe these cases. The hypothesis that a. disturbance in the nitrogen balance, secondary to hormonal in balance, may be the etiological factor, is envisaged The fact that these cases add to the evidence that the’ etiology of psychosis is more biological or constitutional than environmental emphasized.
